About Us

Shoalhaven Action Campaign (SAC) was formed in May 2007 in response to Shoalhaven City Council’s plans for major developments in Huskisson and Ulladulla - developments that had overwhelming community opposition with more than 1000 people in Huskisson and Ulladulla attending public meetings to register their dissent.

SAC supports development in the Shoalhaven that reflects community aspirations and protects the natural environment and draws new residents and tourists to our region.

SAC opposes Shoalhaven City Council’s current pro-development position that preferentially caters for developers above the interests of communities.

SAC promotes a new, fresh approach for local government in the Shoalhaven, one that balances development with a future vision the whole community shares, respects public consultation and demonstrates integrity in decision-making.

Current Issues

Development Control Plan (DCP 118)
Based on projected sea level rises, this document will restrict future development on many of our coastal areas. It still unclear on the effect future ocean inundation will have on our foreshores. What is clear however is the effect this DCP will have on those residents that reside along our coastline (more)

Shoalhaven Local Environment Plan (SLEP)
The 2009 draft SLEP has still not been made available for public scrutiny. This document is our only legal safeguard against inappropriate development in the Shoalhaven.

One Tree Bay
Located on the southern shores of St Georges Basin, One Tree Bay is earmarked to become a new town. (more)

Tomerong Megatip
Existing quarry at Tomerong is destined to become a MEGA-TIP if The Development Application (DA) approved. The MEGA-TIP would be home for more than 50,000 tonnes of waste each year. A submission by Dennis Argall explains more about this controversial issue. (read submission)

Burrill Lake
The residents of Burrill Lake need action not excuses from Council. The entrance to lake must be opened and normal tidal movements in the lake restored. (more)

Milton Meadows
There is pressure from the State Government to rezone the land that is currently zoned rural 1(b) to 2(a3) which will allow potentially 35 houses (or up to 70 houses under the dual occupancy rule). (more)
