The Shoalhaven Action Campaign is delighted to announce it will be supporting Patricia Mason as a Mayoral candidate for the Council elections on 13 September.

Graeme Gibson from SAC said that Mrs Mason is an ideal candidate with a great deal of experience in the Shoalhaven and a strong grasp of Council procedures. Mr Gibson said “Mrs Mason has lived in the Shoalhaven for 45 years and been a Shoalhaven Councillor for two terms, representing ward two, from 1995 – 2004. Since her time as a Councillor Mrs Mason has maintained an active interest in Shoalhaven City Council and been an active member of a number of community organisations including Shoalhaven Art Society, Community Transport and Riverwatch. To go with her many other community honours she was named Shoalhaven Landcarer of the Year in 2007.”

Mrs Mason said”One of the major concerns I have with Council is the way meetings are conducted. We often see these degenerate into into abusive and aggressive behaviour with little regard for making the best decision. There is a dignity to the office of Mayor that needs to be restored. I am committed to rebuild community trust in council and to support staff to carry out their work in a productive manner. I have always maintained a particular interest in sound financial and economic management and will  be commenting on Council’s budget in the very near future.”

Mrs Mason will also be standing for election as a Councillor in Ward One.
